This exclusive concession trail (only accessible through Desert Magic Tours) offers 20 km of pristine Atlantic beachfront, fascinating history about diamond mining in Atlantis and Ophyr mining settlements, remarkable shipwrecks, and the stunning Mercury Island and Spencer Bay.
Your adventure begins in Luderitz, where you’ll meet your guides and fellow travelers the night before departure. Over four incredible days, you’ll experience the raw beauty of Namibia’s coastline, from dramatic dunes to historic mining sites.
Get together at Obelix Village or similar venue in Luderitz to meet the guides, receive two-way radios, meet fellow travelers, and discuss the upcoming adventure. Dinner will be provided by Desert Magic Tours.

Depart from Obelix Village at 09:00 after breakfast. We’ll proceed to the Naukluft National Park en route to Saddle Hill, encountering diverse landscapes and wildlife along the way. The “dune streets” will prepare you for our late afternoon dune drive experience.
We’ll arrive at Saddle Hill basecamp (Atlantis) in the late afternoon to enjoy a memorable evening at our base camp facility which provides accommodation, ablution facilities, and catering equipment.
Note: Bedding is not included.
After breakfast, we’ll depart for the old mining town of Ophyr to experience its history and view old mining equipment. Along the route, you can expect relaxing beach driving, entertaining dune driving, and a visit to a natural rock blow hole in the sea.
We’ll enter spectacular dunes to reach the basecamp early afternoon. The evening continues with dinner prepared by our chefs.
Following breakfast, we’ll visit Mercury Island, the Otavi and United Trader shipwrecks, and Spencer Bay. We’ll arrive in the afternoon with leisure time to enjoy a sundowner on the beach before our final campfire dinner together.
After breakfast, we’ll return to Luderitz where the tour concludes. Accommodation after the tour is at your own cost.
